Favorite Real Estate Keywords: What Do They Really Mean?

Hey everybody, today let me share with you my favorite keywords on a real estate description that make you kind of think about “What does that really mean?” Let’s start!

1. UNIQUE – If you see a description on a home listed for sale and it says “unique” or “unique opportunity” or “unique floorplan“, I’m telling you, RUN. Because only one in a million people are going to be unique enough to really appreciate that home. It’s not unique, it’s weird.

2. COZY – Cozy just means small and you just might have to get rid of half of the furniture you already have.

3. WELL-MAINTAINED – Well maintained means it’s probably a good bones kind of house, but definitely it’s going to need renovation or a major update.

4. CHARMING – When I think of charming, I think of doilies, and I think of teapots, and I think of my grandmother. I don’t know what charming is going to tell you about a property, but it usually is not the best word to use.

5. PRIVATE BACKYARD – Private backyard means NO backyard. It means that the backyard is usually a hill into a creek, or a hill into a hill itself. But it’s usually private because there’s nothing to see anything anywhere.

The description that you use in your property when you sell it, let the realtor do it. Keep in mind that some things mean other things to other people.

So, trust your realtor, be good and use the right words, and as always if you have any questions, I’m just a click away!
